Biography
He graduated from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory in viola with a professor A. M. Azatyan. For several years he headed the music school in Akademgorodok [1] . For over 40 years he worked at the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra.
He worked on radio and television, wrote screenplays for documentaries, magazine essays. All of his books are related to music and musicians. The first story “Unhappy Manin” was published by the Siberian book publishing house in the collection “Debut” in 1978. One of the last books - “Conductor from the Province”, 2009 - the author dedicated to Arnold Katsu [2] [3] .
He managed to find information about the first - in 1916 - performance of the symphony orchestra in Novonikolaevsk . He restored the biography of Ivan Ludwigovich Stanchich - the first director of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic, who was shot during the period of Stalin's repressions. He was one of the founders of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Museum, which he was in charge of after retirement [3] .
He was fond of painting.
In the last years of his life, he became blind due to glaucoma and diabetes mellitus [3] . The novel “The Conductor from the Province”, then the novel “Tango for the Cat” wrote blindly on a computer that voiced each keystroke [1] .
