Turkestan lugfish [1] ( lat. Hynobius turkestanicus ) is a caudate amphibian from the family of lugfish ( Hynobiidae ). At the beginning of the 20th century, four individuals of this species were discovered, and since then this animal has not fallen into the hands of scientists. Famous specimens were found in Central Asia "between Samarkand and the Pamirs ." It is possible that this species has already become extinct due to the destruction of the habitat.
