Karakulov, Bulat Ishanbaevich

In 1967, he graduated from the conducting department of the Moscow Conservatory (class of Professor Vladislav Sokolov), after which he taught at the department of choral conducting of the Almaty State Conservatory. Kurmangazy (1967-1969).

He graduated from the graduate school of the Institute of Literature and Art. M. O. Auezov, Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR ; from the 1970s he worked at the same institute.

Since 1982, he taught at the Department of Kazakh music and folklore of the Kazakh National Conservatory. Kurmangazy .

Main areas of research:

• musical folklore, musical turkology, musical symmetry;
• Kazakh musical folklore;
• traditional musical culture of Central Asia;
• group theory and musical structures.

Prepared 7 candidates of science.

Member of the attestation commission for art history at the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1994-1996). Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Academic Council for the Protection of Candidate Theses at the Institute of Literature and Art of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1996–2000). Chairman of the GEC in musicology and composition of the Kazakh National Academy of Music (2005-2006).

Author of more than 40 published scientific papers.
