Arthur Werner ( German: Arthur Werner ; April 15, 1877 , Berlin - July 27, 1967 , Berlin ) - German engineer. The first chief mayor of Berlin after the Second World War .

Having received a certificate of maturity in 1898, Werner studied law at the University of Berlin , then transferred to the Higher Technical School in Charlottenburg . In 1907 he received an engineering degree and opened a private technical school. In 1912, Werner defended his thesis at the Higher Technical School in Danzig . He participated in the First World War , was seriously wounded in 1916. In January-November 1932 was a member of the NSDAP . In 1942, he was forced to close his school and abandon teaching for teaching Jews.
On May 17, 1945, the non-partisan Arthur Werner was appointed Soviet commandant to the Mayor of Berlin. This appointment was subsequently approved by the Allied Commandant's Office . After the first free elections held in Berlin on October 20, 1946, Arthur Werner lost his post to the Social Democrat Otto Ostrovsky .
He was buried at the Lichterfeld Park Cemetery .
