Simon Colosimo ( Eng. Simon Colosimo ; January 8, 1979 , Melbourne , Australia ) is a former Australian footballer , defender of Italian descent, known for playing for the clubs Perth Glory , Melbourne City , Sydney and the Australian national team . Member of the 2000 Olympics.

Content
Club career
Colosimo began his professional career playing for the Carlton Club. After a successful season, the German “ Bavaria ” and the Greek “ Panathinaikos ” showed interest in him, but during the friendly match of the Australian national team against the English “ Manchester United ” in a clash with Andy Cole , the latter inflicted a serious knee injury on Simon [1] . As a result, after several complex operations and lengthy rehabilitation, Colosimo was able to return to the field only six months later. In 2000, he played the season for South Melbourne , after which he decided to leave Australia and accepted the invitation to Manchester City . Simon could not win to adapt in Europe and two unsuccessful seasons spent in England and the Belgian " Antwerp " he returned to his homeland. His new team was Perth Glory , which Colosimo helped win the National League . He spent the next season at Parramatta Power , and then went to the Malaysian Pahang , with whom he won the local Super League .
In 2005, Simon returned to Perth Glory, signing an agreement for three years. In 2007, he went on a short trip to Turkey , on loan, speaking for Sivasspor . After returning, Colosimo was elected captain of the team [2] .
In 2008, his contract with Glory ended. Simon transferred to Sydney as a free agent. He signed a two-year contract and helped the team win the A-League in 2010. After the agreement ended, Colosimo moved to Melbourne City . On August 5, in a match against the Central Coast Mariners , he made his debut for a new club [3] . On December 17, in a duel against Adelaide United , Simon scored his first goal for City. [4] In 2013, Colosimo went to work in the Indian " Dempo ". On September 22, in his match against the Shillong Lyong , he made his debut in the I-League [5] . In 2014, Samyon returned to his homeland, where he completed his career at the Goulburn Walley Sans Club.
International Career
In 1999, Simon played at the Youth World Championships in Nigeria .
In 2000, Colosimo took part in the home Olympic Games . At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Italy [6] , Nigeria [7] and Honduras [8] .
On April 11, 2001, in a 2002 World Cup qualifying match against the American Samoa national team, Simon took a double, scoring his first goals for the national team [9] . In 2005, he took part in the Confederations Cup . At the tournament, he played in a match against the Tunisian team [10] .
In 2000 and 2004 , Colosimo won the UFC Cup of Nations .
