Deposits of Yakutia

Yakutia is a unique territory for the diversity, quantity and quality of minerals. Here 1823 deposits of 58 types of mineral raw materials are officially registered. The most important are deposits of diamonds ( 82% of Russia's reserves), antimony ( 82% ), and uranium ( 61% ) [1] . The republic also accounts for 47% of explored coal reserves, 35% of natural gas and oil in Eastern Siberia and the Far East [2] . Moreover, more than 16 thousand potential deposits remain poorly studied [1] .

Content

Antimony

The main reserves of Yakut antimony are concentrated in the Adycha-Taryn ore zone. Officially, 7 antimony deposits are registered in the republic, and antimony is also an associated component of some gold deposits. The Sarylakh and Sentachan deposits are unique in terms of ore volume and concentration. Yakutia provides 100% of the production of this element in Russia [2] .

Diamonds

Reserves of Yakut diamonds are concentrated in the Yakut diamond province [2] . 47 deposits are officially registered [1] . At the same time, the main reserves (over 90%) are concentrated in 17 [1] primary deposits. Thanks to the industrial development of deposits in Malo-Botuobinsky, Daldyno-Alakitsky and Anabarsky districts, Yakutia occupies a leading position in Russia in diamond mining. The most famous deposit is the Mir kimberlite pipe [2] .

Uranus

Uranium deposits are concentrated in South Yakutia and are represented by the Elkon group of deposits , which is the largest in Russia by reserves [1]. However, as of 2007, uranium was not mined in the republic, geological exploration was carried out at distributed deposits [2] .

Oil and Gas

34 officially registered deposits of oil, natural gas and condensate in the republic [1] . The deposits are mainly concentrated in the Vilyui and Nepa-Botuobinsk oil and gas regions. More than 90% of the reserves are concentrated in the 11 largest fields [2] .

Coal

Yakutia has 48 officially registered coal deposits . [1] . The most important are the Neryungrinskoye and Sillakhskoye deposits. The republic accounts for 47% of the explored coal reserves of Eastern Siberia and the Far East , while no more than 7% of the deposits are developed or developed [2] .

Gold

Yakutsk gold is mined in alluvial and primary deposits. It is also a related component of uranium deposits. Officially registered 834 gold deposits [1] . Gold reserves in Yakutia are estimated at 20% of the all-Russian, but most of them are concentrated in arsenic ores difficult to develop. The largest deposits are Nezhdaninskoye , Kuchus , the Allah-Yun rivers, Bolshoy Kuranakh and others [2] .

Silver

Silver in Yakutia is found mainly in the eastern part in the Arctic zone . 33 fields were taken into account [2] , of which the largest are Forecast and Nezhdaninskoye . At the latter, silver is a passing component [1] .

Iron Ores

The main place of concentration of iron ores is Aldan iron ore province with a potential of 18.9 billion tons [1] . 14 deposits are registered. The most promising deposits are Dyosovskoye and Tayozhnoye, located in relative proximity to the Baikal-Amur Railway [2] .

Tin

Tin reserves in Yakutia are mainly represented by primary deposits, in which 75.7% of recorded reserves are concentrated. In total, 50 deposits were taken into account [1] . All deposits are concentrated in the eastern part of the Arctic zone of Yakutia. In the total reserves of Russia, the deposits of Yakutia account for more than 40% of the explored and more than 80% of the balance reserves. Tin is also an associated component of silver-polymetallic deposits. In 2008, production was carried out at the Churpunya and Tirehtyakh fields [2] . The most promising primary deposit Deputatskoye ceased operation in the late 2000s [3] .

Tungsten

The main reserves of tungsten ( 89% ) in Yakutia are concentrated in two complex deposits: copper-tungsten Agylki and tungsten-tin Ilintas. In total, 24 tungsten deposits are accounted for in the republic [1] . All deposits are located in the Arctic zone. Tungsten is mined only along with tin at the Churpunya deposit [2] .

Lead and Zinc

In Yakutia, there are 10 recorded lead-zinc deposits [1] . The mineralization is wide, there are both lead-zinc and complex deposits in which these metals are incidental components. Mining is not performed [2] .

Rare Earth Metals

In Yakutia, one rare earth metals deposit is known - Tomtorskoye , whose reserves are estimated at 17.75% of the total reserves of foreign countries [1] [2] . In addition, rare earth metals are found as associated components in the Seligdar deposit and in placers of the Kular gold-bearing region. Mining is not performed [2] .

Non-Metallic Minerals

Non-metallic minerals are represented in Yakutia by cement raw materials, gypsum , building stone, colored stones, zeolites , rock salt , apatites , graphite , vermiculite . Potassium salt , asbestos and magnesite can be detected. Mostly used are deposits of sand-gravel and sand-wood-crushed stone mixtures, including those not officially registered. The total number of recorded non-metallic mineral deposits for 2008 was 1038 [2] .

Groundwater

Freshwater

In the republic 29 deposits of fresh underground waters are taken into account, of which 14 are used for water supply. Most of the reserves are concentrated in South Yakutia [2] .

Mineral waters

In Yakutia, four deposits of mineral water for medicinal-table use and one mineral water for external use are taken into account. The Nadezhda mineral water deposit has been partially explored, and two therapeutic mud deposits have been explored. In use are the Malo-Nakhotskoye mineral water deposit, and the Kempendyayskoye and Abalakh mineral mud deposits [2] .

Industrial waters

Industrial waters are widespread, the most studied deposits are adjacent to the objects of the diamond industry. Currently, these resources are not used due to the lack of technology for their processing [2] .
