Filming
Filming with the working title "Cyber" began on September 25, 2013. A year later, on July 26, 2014, the trailer was presented at the San Diego Comic-Con festival and the new name was announced - “ Blackhat ” [6] .
The shooting of the cyber thriller took place on two continents: North America ( USA - Los Angeles and New York ) and Asia ( China - Hong Kong , Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur , Indonesia - Jakarta ) [7] .
Criticism
The film received mixed reviews from film critics [8] [9] [10] . On the Rotten Tomatoes website , the film is rated 33% based on 180 reviews with an average rating of 4.8 out of 10 [11] . On the Metacritic website , the film has a rating of 51 out of 100 based on 37 reviews from critics, which corresponds to the status of “mixed or average reviews” [12] . On the CinemaScore website, viewers rated the film C-, on a scale of A + to F [13] .
For many critics, an important issue of the film is the role of the hacker in the person of Chris Hemsworth [14] [15] [16] . Christie Lemier of the Chicago Sun-Times stated in her review: “Anyone sitting in front of a computer screen all day will not look as rude as Hemsworth” [17] . However, Manola Dargis from The New York Times gave the film a positive review, calling the film "an exciting directorial work." [18]
