Ne-vaza (lying fight) - a subsection of judo and jujitsu , where the goal of the duel was to prematurely defeat the opponent, by applying painful reception on his hands or feet, or asphyxiation, after moving the enemy to the ground, or attacking him from the position lying or sitting on the ground, unlike Kodokan judo or Olympic, throws do not play such a significant role here.
History
At the end of the 19th century , the students of Jigoro Kano defeated everyone in the competition at the police department: Shiro Saigo with his throw of yama-arashi and other episodes of the total superiority of the Kodokanovites (which is not surprising, since all other schools practiced wrestling only in the form of kata , but Jigoro Kano shrewdly introduced Randori into practice). However, later, in the period 1891 - 1901, unexpected things began to happen, in the framework of local, behind-the-scenes meetings with representatives of old Koryu schools: the representative of Fusen-ryu Mataemon Tanabe repeatedly dragged strong fighters from Kodokan to the ground (in particular, Tobari Takisaburo) , and very quickly won.
In fact, the non-waza technique for Jigoro Kano was not something unfamiliar: he repeatedly invited fighters to play for his school with a good partner, such as Samura Kaito, and as a functionary Butokukai arranged competitions between serious partners of the time, as Isogay Hajime and all the same Tanabe. But the essence is that although they knew about a good ground in Kodokan, they did not include him in their program, relying either on tachi-waza or on legionnaires from the outside, such as Isogai.
