His name is of Germanic origin. Edoing was the uncle of the commander of the Ostrogothic federations, Sidimund . He enjoyed the patronage of Empress Eliya Verina , thanks to which he received the title of Domestic Committee in 479. According to the authors of PLRE , this event could have happened back in 478.
