Biography

The youngest of three children is Count Herbert von Einsiedel (1885-1945) and Countess Irena von Bismarck-Schönhausen (1888-1982). The marriage of parents broke up in 1931.

During World War II, Einsidel served as a Luftwaffe fighter pilot with the rank of lieutenant in the Jagdgeschwader 2 squadron, was shot down on August 30, 1942 on the Eastern Front and was captured. Then he studied at the anti-fascist school, worked in the anti-fascist group, became one of the co-founders, deputy chairman and front-line commissioner for propaganda of the Free Germany National Committee.

After being released from captivity in June 1947, he joined the SED in July 1947 and worked as a journalist for the Tägliche Rundschau in the Soviet zone of German occupation ; at the end of 1948 he moved to the West. Subsequently, he worked as a translator, screenwriter and writer. In 1957-1992 he was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany , from where he joined the Party of Democratic Socialism . In 1994, he was elected to the Bundestag on the land register of the PDS in Saxony.

In 1955-1964 he was married to the actress and subsequently politician Barbara Rutting . He entered into a second marriage in 1972 with Helga Lehtape, nee Grüter, two sons were born to the spouses.
