In 1886 he entered the University of Dorpat , first at the Faculty of Medicine, and then (in 1891) at the Natural History Department of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics; student, in particular, Julius von Kennel . In 1920-1921 Professor of Zoology at the University of Latvia , in 1921-1923. - at the University of Tartu. Then he lived in Sweden, in Posen, and finally in Greifswald.
