Commelina spectabilis

Commelina spectabilis (lat.) Is a species of monocotyledonous plants of the genus Commeline ( Commelina ) of the family Commelinaceae ( Commelinaceae ). First described by the British botanist Charles Baron Clarke in 1881 [2] [3] .

There are two types of plants - actually Commelina spectabilis var. spectabilis and Commelina spectabilis var. ramosa [4] .

Distribution and habitat

Endemic of Angola [4] .

It grows in forests near rivers and on sandy grassy marshy places [5] .

Botanical description

Herbaceous, highly pubescent plant with a thick rhizome [5] .

The stem is erect, strong, 8.5–25 cm tall [5] .
