Hydroelectric power stations began to be built in 1961. The first hydropower unit was launched in 1967, the second - in 1968. In 1985, the turbines were replaced. The hydroelectric power station was built according to the derivational type. It operates on the drain of the Bolshoi Stavropol Canal, and has no regulation of reservoirs or basins.

The composition of hydroelectric power plants:

  • water intake;
  • 720 m double-flow pressure pipe;
  • hydroelectric power station building 48 m long;
  • outlet channel;
  • a single spillway consisting of a head, a tray 795 m long, and a water well;
  • a discharge channel of an idle spillway 315 m long;
  • gateway regulator No. 2 on the Great Stavropol Canal;
  • Outdoor switchgear 110 kV.

The capacity of the hydroelectric power station is 37 MW, the average annual output is 197.3 million kWh. Two hydroelectric units with a capacity of 18.5 MW each with radial-axis turbines RO75-V-250 operating at a design head of 49.8 m were installed in the building of the hydroelectric power station. The manufacturer of hydraulic turbines is Kharkov Turboatom, and the generators are Uralelectrotyazhmash [1] . HPP equipment is outdated and worn out (wear rate 90%).
