The park is located in the Zambesian phytogeographic region. Plants of the genera Brachestegia and Julbernardia , as well as the species of mopane predominate in the park [3] .
The park is inhabited by 66 species of mammals, 24 species of amphibians and 29 species of reptiles [3] . Among mammals, there are impala ( Aepyceros melampus petersi ), a lion , an Angolan epaulette wing ( Epomophorus angolensis ). Observations at the borders of the park show that at least 182 species of birds live in it, mainly in the Zambesian woodlands. On the banks of the rivers, a rare species of gray-faced crane is found and possibly nests, and at least 21 species of waterfowl are found on the lakes. In addition, the park is inhabited by a red-shouldered brilliant starling ( Lamprotornis nitens ), a steel brilliant starling ( Lamprotornis chalybaeus ), a wedge-tailed brilliant starling ( Lamprotornis acuticaudus ). BirdLife International experts believe that waterfowl migration is taking place in the park [2] .
Since 1938, Giraffa camelopardalis angolensis , an Angolan subspecies of a giraffe , has been guarded in the park. In 1964, the territory received the status of a national park, but in the early 1970s, giraffes were almost completely exterminated [2] . Currently, the population of giraffes is very small [3] .
