The Russian Indoor Track and Field Championship 1998 was held on February 13 - 15 in Moscow in the arena of the sports club “CSKA” . Competitions were one of the stages of selection for the Russian national team for the European Indoor Championships , held February 27 - March 1 in Valencia, Spain . At the same time as the championship, the strongest were determined in the framework of the Championship of Russia among youth (born 1976-1978). Over 3 days, 26 sets of medals were played.

Russian All-Around Championship
The country's champions in the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon were determined on February 13-15, 1998 in Lipetsk in the athletics arena of the Yubileiny Palace of Sports [1] . The high amounts scored by Irina Belova (4680 points) and Svetlana Moskalets (4613 points) allowed them to take the first 2 lines in the list of the best results of the season in the world and guarantee a place in the national team at the European Championships.
