The championship was held only among men at distances of 500 meters, 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. The competition was attended by 29 skaters from 9 countries. The champion of Europe was the representative of the USSR Norwegian scooter Knut Johannesen , the prize-winners were the representative of the USSR Boris Stenin and the Norwegian Roald Os .
