History

In 2009, the Dnepropetrovsk authorities sharply faced the issue of unloading the central roads of the city, as well as the embankment. At the end of 2009, Dnepropetrovsk remained the only regional center in Ukraine that did not have a bypass road. In April-July 2010, the president, together with the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region , allocated money for the construction of the first stage of the road.

In September 2011, the first section of the road was already commissioned, and the builders started the second. Exits from the Kaydatsky bridge were built and a theoretical road was laid connecting them to another highway. By the beginning of 2013 at an accelerated pace, they completed the second part of the flyover. In 2014, the regional administration was unable to find money to finance the third part, and while construction is slow.

Roadblock on a city of heavy loads

With the launch of the first section of the bypass road, the city administration issued a decree banning the passage of large-tonnage trucks on the streets of Dnepropetrovsk from 8:00 to 23:00. This allowed to unload the embankment, as well as the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya highways.

Main Sites

In total, 4 main sections are distinguished on the bypass road:

  • right-bank exit from the Kaydak bridge (5.2 km);
  • section of the road from the South bridge to the Zaporizhzhya highway (6 km);
  • roads from the South Bridge to the Dnieper-Melitopol highway (12 km);
  • road from Melitopol to the Kharkov highway (13 km).

Also, two roads will be redone for the needs of the highway: they will expand the seven-kilometer section of the Zaporizhzhya Highway to six lanes and will make a complete reconstruction of 8 kilometers of the Kharkov highway.

Problems

During the construction, more than one residential building had to be demolished. Residents came out to protest, but in 2010 the city thought more about their needs, rather than about the problems of the residents. Therefore, in one of the residential areas, the construction of multi-storey panel houses for internally displaced persons began. However, not everyone agreed with such a fate. In 2011, builders had to tear down a house by force, whose residents did not want to move out. And the house itself was on the highway.

Transport

At the moment, only one of the two roads built is in the completed stage. Cars have already been driving along it and have put in truck wagons, which sufficiently unloaded Kalinin Avenue and Petrovsky Avenue.

Interesting Facts

  • The highway budget is more than 2 billion hryvnias.
  • Kaydatsky Congress will literally pass through the territory of three factories.
  • Officially, there are two more names on the bypass road - South and North bypasses.
  • In the south, the route will run through the historical zone - it is in this area that the remains of the fortresses of the Cossacks who once lived here are found.
