Biography
In 1974, he received a Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego for his thesis on the Philosophy of Religion Religion by Bishop Edward Stillingflit (1635–1699) ”( Eng. The Common-Sense Philosophy of Religion of Bishop Edward Stillingfleet (1635–1699) ). The supervisor was Richard Popkin .
In 1977 - 2007 he taught at the Department of Philosophy , Sacramento City College .
Educational activities
Defending scientific skepticism and critical thinking for many years, in 1994, Carroll created the Skeptic's Dictionary site, initially containing about 50 articles, mostly devoted to the analysis of informal mistakes and pseudoscience . Currently, the number of articles has grown to several hundred. Many of them are devoted to the topic of paranormal and supernatural . The number of visitors is over a million per month. [1] Carroll gives a large number of interviews with large and local media, like Davis Enterprise . [2] In addition, he gave interviews to representatives of communities that disseminate scientific skepticism , like the Society of skeptics of New England [3] and Media Man Australia. [four]
In January 2010, Carroll was elected a member of the Skeptical Investigations Committee . [five]
On May 29, 2011, Carroll took part in the discussion on the “Five Myths about Skeptics” at the II Annual Conference of Skeptics SkeptiCalCon, held in Berkeley. [6]
On March 27, 2012, Carroll created his Unnatural Virtue section on Skepticality podcasting . [7]

Journalist and Writer Richard Milton accused Carroll of distorting quotations and arguments after he published an excerpt from Milton's electronic publication on marginal science , marked “Internet nonsense” ( Internet Bunk ); and also called Carroll a "pseudo-skeptic." [8] In turn, Carroll retorted these accusations. [9]
