Yongsei University ( 연세대 학교 ? , 延 世 大 學校? ) Is a private research university located in Seoul , Korea . It is one of the three SKY universities ( Seoul National University , Koryo , Yonse), considered the three most prestigious universities in the country. Yonsei University was founded in 1885 in Che Dong, and in 1962 he moved to Sinchon. The oldest university in South Korea.

In Yense, 4,518 teachers train 26,731 undergraduates and 11,994 graduate students. The university has extensive programs in Korean and English.

History
On April 10, 1885, a medical school was established at the first modern hospital in Korea that practices Western medicine. The hospital was founded by , an American Protestant missionary who was sent to Korea by the . In 1912, Jejungwon School of Medicine began to receive medical personnel and financial support from the Council of the Union of Korean Missionaries. Accordingly, the medical school was renamed the medical college of the Severance Union Medical College .
On March 5, 1915, the American Protestant missionary founded the Chosun Christian College, later renamed Yonghi College, with the support of the YMCA .
Beginning in the 1920s, Severans and Yonhi began to cooperate, and finally, in January 1957, they merged into the University of Yonse. The name of the new school was composed of the first syllables of the name of its parent institutions.

Jonese, along with Seoul National University and Koryo University, is one of the three most prestigious SKY universities in the country. The admission rate of Yonse University is below 5%. Inside Korea, admission to any of the three SKY universities is considered very important for a successful future career and high social status.
World Rankings
In 2012, Yonsei University ranked 106th overall in , 81st in the field of arts and humanities, 12th in modern languages and 69th in management and social sciences in the world. [2] In the QS World ranking of 2018, the university took 106th place in the overall standings and 19th among Asian universities. [3]
The academic ranking of world universities in 2009 placed Yonse University in the range from 23rd to 42nd place in the Asia-Pacific region and on the 3rd in South Korea. [4] In the 2017 ranking, Yonse was ranked from 201st to 300th place. [five]
According to the SCI rating published in 2007, Ince ranked 96th in the world according to the publication. [6]
Yonse is one of four Korean universities that has entered all three world university rankings: ARWU, QS World University Rankings and The Times World University Ranking in 2010–2013, along with Seoul National University, Korean Institute of Advanced Technologies and Pohang University of Science and Technology .
