Biography

Born on January 4 (17), 1915 in a peasant family in the village of Olshovo, 1st Corsican Volost, Roslavl Uyezd, Smolensk Province (since 1926 - Khotimsky District, Mogilev Region, BSSR).

In 1931 he graduated from the Khotim seven-year school. He worked as a laborer in Minsk on the construction of the Government House, a kitchen factory, and the Opera House.

Since September 1931, he was a student at the rabbi faculty at the All-Union Zootechnical Institute of Fur Raw Materials (VZIPSH) in Moscow. Since 1933 - a student in the Department of Hunting at the same institute. At the end of the institute, he was awarded the diploma "Biotechnical Hunter of High Qualification."

January - December 1938 - Head of the State Hunting Inspectorate under the People's Commissariat of the BSSR, Minsk.

January 1939 - December 1940 - military service in the Soviet Army, participation in battles with white Finns on the Karelian Isthmus, participation in the liberation of Bessarabia. Awarded the officer rank of “2nd Quartermaster Technician”.

December 1940 - June 1941 - head of the hunter sector of the District Council of the All-Army Military Hunting Society (BBOO) of the Western Special Military District of Minsk.

June 1941 - July 1946 - service in the Soviet Army clerical work of the medical supply department of the Sanitary Administration of the Western Front, assistant to the head of the head department of PEP No. 143 with an evacuation center for material support of the Western and 1st Ukrainian fronts. Awarded the title of captain of administrative service.

In January 1944 he became a member of the CPSU .

In 1945 - pom. the head of the evacuation hospital for material support, Vienna. After demobilization, he was sent to Moscow at the disposal of the Logistics Directorate of the Soviet Army.

October 1946 - June 1948 - Deputy. head physician and director of a subsidiary farm of the Minsk Regional Psychiatric Hospital.

July 1948 - November 1949 - Deputy. Director of the Minsk Medical Institute for Administrative and Economic Affairs. Released due to the transition to work in the specialty.

November 1949 - October 1951 - scientific secretary of the Reserve Administration under the Council of Ministers of the BSSR.

November 1951 - November 1954 - graduate student of the Institute of Biology of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR (department of fauna). Candidate dissertation is defended in the Academic Council of the Belarusian State University. V.I. Lenin on time (specialty "Ichthyology")

November 1954 - May 1957 - Scientific Secretary of the Department of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.

Since 1955, as the scientific secretary of the Commission for the Protection of Nature under the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, he took an active part in the development of the basic documents on the organization of nature protection in Belarus. On issues of nature protection, he published 15 scientific papers, including the work "Leninist Principles of Nature Conservation", which has passed 4 editions.

May 1957 - October 1967 - Senior Researcher, Department of Fauna, Institute of Biology, Academy of Sciences of the BSSR; since February 1958, Department of Zoology and Parasitology, Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.

In 1960, he took an active part in the VIII International Congress for the Conservation of Nature in Poland, participated in the 1st European Ichthyological Congress as part of a delegation from the Soviet Union.

In 1967, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the theme "Fish of Belarus."

In 1969 he was awarded the academic title of professor.

October 1967 - December 1976 - Director of the Belarusian Research Institute of Fisheries of the USSR Ministry of Fisheries (BelNIIRKh). Then - scientific consultant of BelNIIRKh and BelNII of the Department of Fisheries under the Council of Ministers of the BSSR. In 1977, he retired prematurely in protest against the decentralization of fisheries science, which had begun already then, and the destruction of intra-union and inter-republican ties.

In 1977-1991 and 1996-2003, he served as a scientific consultant at the BelNII Rybproekt and at the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR; He was the leading curator for the development of the republican theme "Forecast of possible changes in the biosphere as a result of the development of sectors of the national economy until 1990"; “The development of zoology in Belarus in the pre-revolutionary period” within the framework of the comprehensive national theme “Development of science and culture in Belarus”. Actively participated in the creation of the Belarusian Soviet Encyclopedia, wrote a number of articles for the BelSSE and the Red Book of Belarus

Wife - Zoya Ivanovna Zhukova (12.12.1919 - 10.21.2003).

Children:

  • Vladimir (3.6.1948 - 22.3.1996), candidate of biological sciences, senior researcher at the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.
  • Larisa (born 10.9.1944, married Lisitsyna ), candidate of medical sciences, senior lecturer of the Belarusian State Medical University.

Community Work

Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Group of the Ichthyological Commission of the Ministry of Fisheries of the USSR: deputy. Chairman of the Belarusian Branch of the All-Union Hydrobiological Society; deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council on the problem "Hydrobiology, ichthyology and the use of biological resources of water bodies" at the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.
