Event

During the Kiev reign of his father and his struggle against Yuri Dolgoruky, Mstislav Izyaslavich reigned in Pereyaslavl and was the main executor of his father's orders, which also controlled Turov and Volyn in addition to Kiev and Pereyaslavl at that time.

After the death of Izyaslav in 1154, Vladimir Mstislavich became the Volyn prince. Due to the indecisiveness of Rostislav Mstislavich Smolensky in actions to maintain the Kiev reign, Mstislav left Pereyaslavl. Yuri Dolgoruky became the Kiev prince, who planted his sons in Turov and Pereyaslavl.

In 1156, Mstislav kicked out his uncle, the stepmother Vladimir Mstislavich, from Vladimir-Volynsky, taking the first step to returning his father’s inheritance. Vladimir fled to Hungary. Yuri Dolgoruky received an occasion to intervene in Volyn affairs in order to imprison Vladimir Andreevich on the Volyn reign, although until the last moment Yuri presented his actions as restoring the rights of Vladimir Mstislavich.

The siege lasted 10 days, the squad Yuri and the Galicians stormed from two gates. During the siege, Vladimir Andreyevich raided the Cherven land and was shot by an arrow in the throat from the wall of Cherven .

When the allies retreated from Vladimir-Volynsky and began to go east towards Kiev, Mstislav made a sortie and burned the village to Dorogobuzh , which was ultimately given to Yuri Vladimir Andreevich with the adjacent parish - Pogorina .

Summary

Mstislav Izyaslavich significantly strengthened his position, subsequently was able to leave the Volyn principality to his descendants. Rostislav Mstislavich, who had previously recognized Dolgoruky as the Kiev prince, was dissatisfied with the violation of the rights of his line, which prompted Rostislav and Mstislav to support Izyaslav Davydovich as a contender for Kiev reign. The allies did not take place due to the death of Yuri ( 1157 ). Izyaslav became the prince of Kiev, but was later overthrown by Rostislav and Mstislav and killed by black hoods ( 1161 ).
