Story
Once upon a time, Skyland was ruled by the Riders of Doom - powerful villains wreaking havoc on all of Skyland. But the Skylanders defeated them and imprisoned Cloud Cracker in prison. But a few years later, Khaos captured the dungeons and released the Riders of Doom, as well as other villains into the wild. In addition, he was able to send all the Trap Masters to Earth, and he himself organized a new lair for the Riders, hoping to capture Skyland. However, the ungrateful Riders of Doom and other villains did not even want to listen to Khaos because of their small stature, and then completely overthrew him, deciding to act on their own. And now the Skylanders need not only to prevent the villains, but also to capture them again.
Gameplay
As in the previous games of the series, the gameplay is based on the figures of characters that the player installs on a special portal so that the character appears on the screen as a game. The main innovation of Trap Team is the appearance of trap items, with which you can capture villains after a victory and then play for them. In addition, crystals appeared with bonuses and inaccessible to ordinary Skylanders (giants, Swap-Skylanders and Mini-Skylanders are also counted as ordinary ones) in places and special places with puzzle tasks and bonuses, which can only be opened by the new Skylander class - Trap Masters. Initially, 16 Trap Masters were announced, 2 for each of the eight elements, but at the end of December 2014 two more new Trap Masters were released, opening two new elements for the series - Light and Darkness. Corresponding traps also appeared, two new Skylanders and villains of two new elements. [3] Due to the appearance of traps, the game requires a new portal, which comes in the game's starter kits.
The player can play both for Skylanders and for caught villains, at any time switching between them. The villains are stronger, but have an expiring energy indicator, at the end of which the villain becomes unavailable until the counter recovers. But this indicator can be extended if you pass a special quest or turn with the help of characters who just need some help from the villains. Another difference is the presence of only two fighting tricks for the villains (Khaos and the Riders of the Rock have three tricks each), unlike the Skylanders, who receive large improvements in terms of number. In addition, villains can also open money safes from time to time. The money collected by the villains themselves is credited to the account of the Skylanders, which the player is currently playing.
Another replenishment in the ranks of the heroes is the appearance of Mini-Skylanders as a separate class. Previously, some of the heroes appeared in the role of sidekicks helping the heroes, but now they have become game characters on their own, possessing the same abilities as ordinary counterparts. Announced 16 mini-skylanders, 2 for each of the 8 main elements. [four]
