Biography

Born on January 14, 1933 in the village of Likhvin (now Chekalin, Tula Region ). In 1948 he graduated from the seven-year school, after which he entered the Bitsevsky Agricultural Technical School. There he studied botany from Vasily Petrovich Rozhdestvensky . In 1951 he graduated from college with honors, after which he continued to receive education at Moscow University , where he attended the lectures of K. I. Meyer , D. A. Trankovsky , A. N. Belozersky , L. I. Kursanov , L. A. Zenkevich , S.N. Tyremnova , T.A. Rabotnova . In 1956, Ivan Alekseevich graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Biology with a degree in geobotany.

In 1952 and 1953 I. A. Gubanov went on expeditions to the Lower Volga region , in 1954 and 1955 - to the Amur region . From 1956, he worked at the Przhevalsk Experimental Station of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Medicinal Plants in Kyrgyzstan , and studied plants containing alkaloids . Returning to Moscow in 1958, he entered graduate school. While studying under the guidance of Professor S. S. Stankov , he continued to go on expeditions to Tien Shan .

Since 1960, Ivan Alekseevich was a junior researcher at VILAR, from 1962 - senior research associate, from 1964-1966 - deputy director for scientific work, from 1967-1968 - head of the department of botany. He continued the expedition to Bashkiria , Central Asia in search of medicinal plants. Received 5 copyright certificates for participation in the creation of new drugs.

In 1966 he visited India . Continuing to work in VILAR, he also taught a course at the Biology and Soil Faculty of Moscow State University. Since 1968, Gubanov worked as a senior fellow at the Herbarium of Moscow State University . With V.N. Pavlov, Gubanov revised the herbarium department of Central Asia. In 1969–1971, he participated in the Meschersky expedition of the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University, from which more than 20,000 herbarium specimens were brought. In 1968 and 1974, Ivan Alekseevich traveled to Afghanistan .

From 1976 to 1978, I. A. Gubanov led an expedition to the Amur Region, in particular, through the Zeya Reserve . Upon his return from the Amur Region, he set off for the Soviet-Mongolian Academic Biological Expedition.

In 1970-1992 Gubanov was the scientific secretary of the Moscow branch of the All-Union Botanical Society .

Ivan Alekseevich Gubanov died on February 12, 2005 .
