Yakov Mukhachev was born on October 17, 1913 in the village of Baraki (now the Oktyabrsky district of the Kostroma region ). He graduated from the village school and the hydrotechnical department of the forest technical school, after which he worked as a hydraulic engineer. In September 1935, Mukhachev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1937, he graduated from the Kiev Artillery School, after which he served in command positions in artillery units. In 1941, Mukhachev graduated from the command department of the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Military Artillery Academy [1] .

Since September 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He served as an assistant, senior assistant to the chief of staff of the operational group of the guards mortar units of the 39th Army of the Kalinin Front .

Since July 1942, he commanded a group of four and then ten divisions first. Later he served as chief of staff of a number of mortar formations of the Kalinin and 1st Baltic fronts [1] .

Since December 1943 - deputy commander for the combat unit of the 326th Guards Regiment and at the same time. about. Commander of the 3rd Guards Mortar Brigade.

Since April 1944 - commander of the 75th Guards Mortar Regiment.

After the war, Mukhachev continued his service in the Soviet Army. He served in command and staff positions in the mortar units of the Group of Soviet Occupation Troops in Germany : from October 1946 - deputy commander of the 2nd Guards mortar brigade, from May to October 1947 - chief of staff of the 316th guards mortar regiment , then in the Volga Military District .

June 22, 1951 Mukhachev was awarded the military rank of colonel [1] .

Since the mid-1950s, Mukhachev served in units of the Strategic Missile Forces of the Kiev Military District .

On May 9, 1961, he was awarded the military rank of Major General of Artillery. Since September of the same year, Mukhachev headed the Kiev Tank School named after M.V. Frunze (subsequently during his leadership, first renamed the Kiev Command and Technical School named after M.V. Frunze, then the Kiev Higher Combined Arms Command School named after M.V. Frunze ) He was elected a deputy of the Kiev City Council.

In January 1967, Mukhachev was sacked [1] . He lived in Kiev .

He died on March 2, 1981, was buried at the Lukyanovsky military cemetery in Kiev.

He was awarded four orders of the Red Banner , orders of Suvorov 3rd degree and World War 1 degree, two orders of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
