Biography

Twins Tashi and Nungshi Malik were born in India, in the state of Haryana , and now live in the city of Dehradun [3] . Father - Virendra Singh Malik, a retired Indian army officer, originally from Anwali Village, Sonaryat County , Haryana, lives in Dehradun after retiring [1] [2] . Mother - Anju Thapa Malik, housewife and daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Jem Bahadur Thapa. [2]

Like many officer families, they often had to move from place to place [2] . And the girls attended more than nine schools in the states of Madhya Pradesh , Uttar Pradesh , Uttarakhand , Tamil Nadu , Kerala and Manipur , including the prestigious Lawrence School ( Lovedale City, Lovedale ), Nilgiri County , Tamil Nadu). The sisters achieved outstanding academic success. So, at the Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School (Fifth Century School ) in Massouri ( Dehradun District , Uttarakhand), they scored 88% and 86% of the maximum score in the All India board exams , taking first and third places among the girls from their section. In July 2009, Tashi and Nungshi Malik entered Sikkim Manipal University , and in January 2013 they received a bachelor 's degree with honors in journalism and mass communication. [4] [5]

Chomolungma

Tashi and Nungshi Malik underwent mountaineering training at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering , starting in 2010 [1] .

On Sunday, May 19, 2013, the twins successfully climbed Jomolungma, becoming the first twin sisters to do this together [6] [7] . Together with them, Pakistani climber Samina Baig stepped to the top. The girls set the flags of their countries near the top, thereby supporting peace and friendship between their countries, as well as gender equality [8] [9] [10] . Therefore, before the final ascent, Tashi Nungshi and Samina said [11] :

Seven Peaks and Future Plans

Having conquered Jomolungma, the twins set themselves the goal of climbing the remaining six highest peaks of all parts of the world, in order to support mountain climbing and Indian girls and girls. Before the Chomolungma, they ascended to the summit of Kilimanjaro (in February 2012), after - to Elbrus (August 2013), Aconcagua (January 2014), Punchak-Jaya (March 2014), McKinley [12] ( June 2014). Finally, the sisters went to Antarctica and on December 16, 2014 climbed Vinson Peak - the highest point of the ice continent. They became not only the first twins, but also the first sisters to conquer all Seven peaks . [13] [14]

Tashi and Nungshi do not want to stop there. Their next goal is to reach both poles of the Earth by skiing.

Recognition

The sisters got into the Guinness Book of Records : in the 60th anniversary edition there is a record of them as the first twins who conquered the Jomolungma together [13] [14] .
