Zhoucun

Zhoucun ( ct.upr . 周村 , pinyin : Zhōucūn ) is a district subordinate to the city ​​district of Zibo , Shandong Province ( PRC ). The name of the district means “surrounded village” and is related to the fact that once there existed a village surrounded on all sides by water.

History

During the Han Empire, the northern part of this land was part of Wulin County (於 陵县), the south part was part of Banyan County (般 阳县). In the era of the Southern and Northern dynasties, they were part of Wuqiang County (武 强县). Under the Song and Yuan empires, the southern part of these lands was part of Beijiu County (贝). During the time of the Sui Empire, in 596, Beijiu County was renamed Zichuan, and in 598, Wuqiang County, to Changshan County (长 山 县).

In August 1945, after the capitulation of Japan by the communists, the city of Zhoucun was created. In March 1950, Zhoucun and Chanshan were merged into Chanshan County. In May 1950, the Zibo Special District (区 区 区区) was created, and the county became part of it. In November 1950, Zhoucun was separated from Changshan County and merged with Zhangdian into the city of Zhangzhou. In April 1955, the Zibo Special District was disbanded, and the city of Zibo was formed instead; Zhangzhou City was disbanded, and Zhoucun District was formed as part of Zibo.
