Story
The action of "Koroshiya 1" takes place in the Kabuki-cho quarter ( Shinjuku district), where it all boils down to the confrontation of two crazy people - the killer Iti and the head of one of the major Yakuza gangs Kakihara. It is a cowardly guy on his own, who is keen on karate and cannot prove himself in big fights, but when tears appear on his eyes, he can kill everyone around him. Iti combines good martial arts skills with his blades in boots, with the help of which, in a fit of anger, he turns the victim into mincemeat. The sworn enemy of Iti (not only Iti, but also the gang in which he himself is a member) is Kakihara. Kakihara is tired of everything, including from himself - he only feels life when he inserts a piercing, makes cuts or leaves burns on his or other people's bodies, in other words, he lives for the sake of sadomasochism . Kakihara is interested in Iti and where he can be found and does not even suspect how close he is to them.
The Koroshiya 1 manga has a prequel that tells about the life of the main character, Shiroishi Hajime, who cannot show his excellent karateka skills due to the fact that he loses all his skills and strength the moment it comes to a fight. Hajime's classmate - an avid drug addict and idler - Akakuma Dai gets in touch with him, but Hajime did not want to fight, which is why he got a fist in the face. At one point, Hajime cried during the fight, at that moment he felt an unbearable influx of anger, self-confidence and desire for violence, after which he kills all the offenders around. So the killer of Iti was “born”.
Characters
- Jiji ( じ じ い jiji-san , "grandfather") is a short man who looks very old for his 35 years old due to the use of steroids and the use of plastic surgery services. The leader of a small gang of expats who seek to destroy the Andjo gang and earn a lot of money. To do this, Jiji takes Iti into the gang, instilling in him false memories. To some extent, the transformation of the cowardly Hajime into the killer of Iti is his merit. Jiji can easily manipulate Ichi.
- Hajime Shiroishi ( 城 石 一 Siroishi Hajime ) or just “Iti” ( イ チ «,“ first ”) - it seems like an ordinary simple-minded guy who works in the store, but in the evening Hajime becomes the killer of Ichi, who executes the orders of his leader Jiji, the leader the gang in which he is a member. When Iti picks up a wave of emotions and tears pour down, he turns into a terrible killer who is able to tear a person to shreds. In combination with his boots, which have sharp blades, Iti uses karate skills well in combat. Ichi commits his first murder only when Jiji pushes him to do so. Until that moment, Iti only beat his enemies until he lost consciousness. After some time, Iti turns into a serial killer who cannot stop at all. At school, Hajime was a timid guy who didn’t just want to get into fights, although his classmates knew that he was karate professionally. Hajime was regularly beaten and bullied, and his parents only wanted him to graduate from high school and go to university. Once, in a biology class, Hajime had to cut a frog, during which he experienced sexual arousal, after which there was a desire to kill all the animals that were in the "living corner". Since then, Iti has been self-satisfied only in killing.
- Shuji Kaneko ( Jap. 金子 修 二 Kaneko Shu : ji ) is a killer from the Anjou gang, Kakihara's assistant.
- Masao Kakihara ( 垣 原 雅 雄 Kakihara Masao ) is the leader of the Andjo gang. Known for his sadomasochistic inclinations, loves piercings and body scars. In the film version, the appearance is very different compared to the manga.

- ↑ "Iti" in translation from Japanese means "first, number one." Due to language restrictions, the meaning of the name is slightly lost. The main character is called Hajime (“Hajime” to some extent also reflects the meaning of “first”, but the more precise meaning is “beginning, introduction”), and his nickname is “Iti”, which he received at school. A more literal translation would be “Iti - the number one killer”, this name more accurately reflects the original (Koroshiya 1).
