Biography
Valery Borovik is a graduate of Tomsk football. He joined the Torpedo team of masters in 1964, however, he was able to play for it only a year later, when he was 18 years old [1] . Borovik quickly managed to gain a place in the main team and become one of its leaders, which attracted the attention of major league clubs [1] .
In the summer of 1966 he moved to the camp of the current champion of the USSR Moscow “ Torpedo ”. Borovik made his debut as a part of the “car factory” on July 28, 1966 in a guest match against the Baku “ Oilman ”. On August 13, the footballer scored his first goal for the Moscow club, hitting the gates of Moscow Spartak . In total, in the debut season for the Moscow “Torpedo” Borovik played in 9 matches of the USSR Championship and scored one goal. Soon after, a delegation from the leadership of Tomsk Torpedo, head coach Alfred Ter-Markarov , the team’s footballers and even the player’s mother, who asked the player to return to their hometown, arrived in Moscow [1] . Having succumbed to these entreaties, Borovik returned to his native team the next season.
Borovik was forced to complete his career as a football player in 1972 at the age of 26. This happened after he did not attend one of the games, and party officials decided to punish him, depriving him of the title of master of sports and sending him to the army [1] . Later was a children's football coach.
In 1992, a football player became seriously ill and died suddenly [1] .
