Ushakov Medal Regulation

The Ushakov Medal was awarded to sailors and soldiers, foremen and sergeants, midshipmen and warrant officers of the Navy and naval units of the border troops for the courage and bravery shown in the defense of the socialist Fatherland in maritime theaters, both in war and in peacetime.

Ushakov’s medal was awarded for personal courage and bravery shown:

  • in battles with the enemies of the socialist Fatherland in maritime theaters;
  • in the defense of the state sea border of the USSR;
  • in the performance of combat missions of ships and units of the Navy and border troops;
  • in the performance of military duty in conditions involving a risk to life.

Ushakov’s medal is worn on the left side of the chest and in the presence of other medals of the USSR is located after the medal “For Courage” .

Ushakov Medal Description

Ushakov medal from silver . It has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 36 mm with a convex side, in the middle of which there is a relief chest image of F. F. Ushakov, framed around the circumference by convex points. Above, on the circumference, is an inscription in convex letters: "Admiral Ushakov." Below, under the relief image of Ushakov, there are two laurel branches connected by a crossing ribbon. The circle of the medal is anchored. On the reverse side is the number of the medal. The medal is connected with an eye and a ring to a pentagonal block, covered with a silk moire ribbon of blue color with white and blue stripes along the edges. The width of the tape is 24 mm, the width of the white strip is 2 mm, the width of the blue strip is 1.5 mm. An anchor chain is attached over the tape, from the upper corners of the shoe to the medal’s ear.
