Biography

Theodore Vasilievich Florinsky was born in 1813 in the family of a priest of the Vladimir and Suzdal diocese .

He received primary (home and school) education within the same diocese. In 1834, after graduating from Vladimir Theological Seminary , Florinsky entered the Moscow Theological Academy . After graduating from the Academy in 1838 as a master , Feodor Vasilyevich began his service with the rank of bachelor in the department of the Jewish language . He was also offered to occupy the department of literature at the Kazan Theological Academy , but he refused. In 1842, Florinsky, of his own free will, was dismissed from his professorship. In 1843, he became a priest in Moscow at the Vvedensky (or Kazan) church in the Novinsky monastery . Being the rector of this church until his death, Theodore Vasilievich was universally respected among the parishioners because of his honest, reverent service, intelligence and other excellent qualities.

Florinsky was also respected and trusted by the diocesan authorities. In 1846, he was appointed auditor of the Moscow Don School, and in 1848 - the confessor of the sacred church servants of the deanery . In 1849, he became a member of the committee for the review and correction of the manuscript “Historical and Chronological Review of the All-Russian Hierarchy,” and in 1862, by order of Metropolitan Filaret , he became a member of the committee for the consideration of the project on church-candle gathering. In 1863 he was appointed dean of the Prechistensky magpie. Already in 1864, Theodore Vasilievich Florinsky received the rank of archpriest .

Florinsky, in the capacity of parish priest, annually preached and was considered one of the most educated among Moscow shepherds .

Due to the illness and the severity of the censorship rules of the time, Theodore Vasilievich did not publish his literary works, and from his works only one master's thesis “On the participation of evil spirits in the human fall” [1] is known.

Florinsky died on August 22, 1868 from consumption .
