Carrissoa (lat.) Is a monotypic genus of dicotyledonous plants of the legume family ( Fabaceae ) [2] , including the species Carrissoa angolensis [3] . Highlighted by British botanist Edmund Gilbert Baker in 1933 [4] .

Some researchers attribute the species Carrissoa angolensis to the genus Rhynchosia [2] .
The genus is named after the Portuguese botanist and researcher of the flora of Angola, (1886-1937) [2] .
In some sources, the name of the taxon with an error is proposed - Carissoa [5] .
The only species is endemic to Angola [2] [6] [7] . It grows in arid areas and along watercourses [2] .
