The Messengers is an American television series starring Chantel Vansanten created by Eogan O'Donnell. In the center of the plot is the life of seven strangers who find themselves connected after the fall of a mysterious object in the desert of New Mexico .

The series was released on The CW in the season 2014-2015 . The show premiered on April 17, 2015 [1] . Since The CW did not have a time interval for the series during the season, it was dropped on a dead Friday, where it debuted at a demographic rating of 0.3 in the 18-49 category. Thus, the series showed the worst debut result among any new show of the season [2] . On May 7, 2015, the series was closed after three episodes [3] , but the channel did not shoot the show on air and the remaining episodes were shown.
Content
Production
The CW bought the script for the pilot episode from Basil Ivanik and screenwriter Eogan O'Donnell in December 2013. [4] On February 4, 2014, the channel gave a green light to the filming of a pilot episode, the production of which was taken over by sister sister CBS Television Studios [5] . Casting for the main roles soon began, and Sophia Black-D'Elia and Joel Courtney became the first actors approved in the pilot. [6] [7] On February 28, British actor John Fletcher was approved for the role of pastor, while Stephen Williams became the director episodes [8] . On March 5, it was announced that Diogo Morgado would play a key role as a mysterious man, and a week later Chantel Vansanten was approved for the lead role in the project [9] [10] .
May 8, 2014, the channel ordered the shooting of the first season of the series for broadcast in the television season 2014-15 [11] . In August, Anna Diop and Craig Frank joined the show in regular roles [12] , and in October 2014, Jamie Bamber signed up for the role in several episodes [13] .
Story
The plot is based on the chapter of Revelation of St. John the Evangelist , the last of the books of the New Testament . An unknown object from space falls to the earth. At this moment, five completely strangers — the learned Vera, the housewife Erin, the FBI agent Raul, the teenager Peter, and the television preacher Joshua — are dying. After some time, they come to life, and each of them finds unusual abilities. Fate brings them together in Houston . There they find Rose, a nurse who fell into a coma seven years ago. She talks about the fact that they are angels, and they have to stop the four horsemen of the Apocalypse .
