Star Wars Roleplaying Game is a board-based role-playing game set in the science fiction universe of Star Wars . The game was created by Bill Slavichek, Andy Collins and Jade Wicker. The company Wizards of the Coast released the first version of the game at the end of 2000 [1] . In 2002, a revised version of the rules was released, and in 2007 the latest revision of the game, called the Saga Edition , was released. The game is based on d20 mechanics, on the basis of which Dungeons & Dragons of the third edition and a number of other role-playing games are also made.
This is not the first board role-playing game in the Star Wars universe. In 1987, a game from West End Games was released, and Slavichek also worked on it. Currently, the license of Wizards of the Coast to release products under the Star Wars brand has expired, and production has ceased [2] . In 2012, Fantasy Flight Games released a new role-playing game in this universe.
The game is designed for a company of several players, in which one takes on the role of a master , and the rest control the game characters. These characters may belong to one of the many intelligent races that inhabit the galaxy. There are also rules for playing a droid . Several character classes are available for selection, among which there are both Jedi and soldiers, scouts, aristocrats and scammers who are unable to interact with the Force . With the acquisition of new levels, characters can move to other, more powerful classes. For example, the Jedi can go to the Dark Side and become Sith , and fraudsters have the opportunity to become bounty hunters. It is also possible to combine several classes in one character.
A large number of game add-ons examine various periods of the history of the fictional Star Wars universe from the time of the Old Republic, in which the action game series of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series unfolds, to the Heritage era, which began 126 years after the events of The Return of the Jedi . For each of the periods, various technical means are described that are available for choosing a race and plot characters that can be used as antagonists or allies of game characters.
