Saulkalne ( Latvian: Saulkalne ) is a settlement in the Salaspils region of Latvia . Located on the right bank of the Daugava River, 24 km from the capital of the country - Riga and 10 km from Ogre . Located between the cities of Salaspils and Ikskile .

Transport
Saulkalne railway station on the Riga - Krustpils railway line.
The A6 motorway Riga - Daugavpils - Kraslava - Patarnieki ( Belarus border), which is part of the European route E 22 on the Riga - Jekabpils section, passes through Saulkalne.
The bus service is represented by the intercity route Riga - Ogre and the regional route No. 6317 Riga - Salaspils - Saulkalne.
Development
The village consists of seven five-story residential buildings (Lithuanian projects and the 103rd series) and a pair of three-story buildings. Many private houses and gardens. On the territory of Saulkalne there is a gas concrete plant, a cement plant, as well as an asphalt concrete plant.
There is a library , a kindergarten , a first-aid post , a LATs store and a couple of small private retail outlets.
During the First World War, fierce battles took place in the territory of the village of Saulkalne, in memory of which a monument to the fallen heroes was erected on the opposite bank of the river. The author of the monument is the architect Eugene Laube .
