Theodor Körner Prize

Theodor Körner Prize ( German Theodor-Körner-Preis ) - Austrian award in the field of culture and science. Awarded by Theodor Körner Foundation since 1954.

Theodor Körner Foundation was established in 1953 when Austrian President Theodor Körner celebrated his 80th birthday: at the request of the politician, all the gifts sent to him were transferred to the newly created fund to support culture and science.

The prize is awarded annually to representatives of many types of science and art, as a rule, those under the age of 40 for projects that are being completed. The award ceremony is administered by the University of Vienna .

Among the many laureates of different years are composers Gottfried von Einem (1955), Karl Schiske (1960), Friedrich Zerch (1964), writers Marlene Haushofer (1956), Frederick Mayreukker (1963), Andreas Okopenko (1968), Elfrid Gerstl (1978) , Elizabeth Reichart (1985), artists Arnulf Rainer (1964), Gottfried Helnwein (1974), Willy Puchner (1983), Anton Fuchs (1974, 1986), etc.
