The crater Kazati ( lat. Casatus ) is an ancient large impact crater in the southern polar region on the visible side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the Italian mathematician Paolo Kazati (1617-1707) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1935. The formation of the crater belongs to the pre-sectarian period [1] .

Crater Description
The crater's closest neighbors are Wilson Crater in the northwest; Klaproth crater, the southern part of which partially overlaps the Kazati crater; Moret crater in the east-northeast; Crater Short in the east-southeast; Newton crater in the southeast and Lezhentil crater in the west-south-west [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 102.9 km [3] , depth 5.12 km [4] .
The crater has a circular shape and is significantly destroyed over the long time of its existence. The shaft is flattened and blocked by many small craters, the south-western part of the shaft is blocked by the satellite crater Kazati J (see below). The inner slope of the shaft is wide. The Kazati crater shaft is one of the highest on the moon, one of the peaks in the southeastern part of the shaft has a height of 6800 m [5] , similar peaks are located in the northern and southern parts of the shaft, at the site of junction with the Klaproth crater the shaft height is much lower. The volume of the crater is 11 852 km 3 [1] . The bottom of the bowl is even, in the northern part of the bowl there is a prominent large satellite crater Kazati C, in the southern part of the bowl there are a couple of crevices, which are apparently formed by impact at a low angle.
