Biography
His full name is: Abu Nuaym Ahmad ibn Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Ishaq ibn Musa ibn Mehran al-Mihran al-Asbahani ( Arabic . Was born in 947 in the Bouveikhid Isfahan (modern Iran ). His father was one of the experts on Hadith, Abu Nuaym had Ijaz from Abu Khaysama ibn Suleiman from Sham , Abul Abbas al-Asamm from Nishapur , Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Shawzab from Vasit , Abu Sahl ibn Ziyad al-Qattan from. He listened to hadith from at-Tabarani , Hakim Nishapuri , Abu Bakr al-Ajurri and many others. Hadith al-Khatib al-Baghdadi and others passed from him.
Abu Nuayyem al-Isfahani is the author of such works as Hilyat al- awlia ( حلية الأولياء ), Mu'jam as-sahaba ( معجم الصحابة ), Tarih Isfahan ( تاريخ أصبهاا ), Sifat al-janna (( ةصفةصفةصفة ) , Dalail en- Nubuwva ( دلائل النبوة ), Fadail as-sahab ( فضائل الصحابة ), 'Ulum al-hadith ( علوم الحديث ), en-Nifak ( النفاق ), etc.
Abu Nuaym was a follower of the Shafi'i madhhab , and his work, Hiliyat al-Awlii, significantly influenced the development of Sufism . Apparently, he was an asharite and lived during the time of the strife between the Hanbalites and the followers of Abul-Hasan al-Ashari.
He died in 430 hijri ( 1038 ) [4] in Isfahan.
