Starting from this draw, the Champions Trophy returned to its original interval - once every two years, which was changed to an annual interval in 1999 . A return to the rally every two years was undertaken by the FIH in connection with the establishment of the World Hockey League tournament .
The winners of the Champions Trophy (for the 6th time in their history) were the Argentine national team , who defeated the Australian national team 3-1 in the penalty shoot-out (the main time of the match ended 1-1), repeating the achievement of the Australian national team , which in 2003 won the Champions Trophy for the 6th time, and a similar achievement by the Netherlands in 2011 . [1] The Netherlands became the bronze medalist of the championship, defeating the New Zealand national team with a 2: 1 score in the match for 3rd place. [2]

Competition Rules
Eight participating teams were divided into two groups. After the games in each group in a single round- robin system , all the teams went to the “ knockout ” stage, where they played already in the playoff system to finally determine the final place of each team.
Qualification
In addition to the host country of the competition, a direct ticket was given to the teams that took any of the five first places in the previous draw in 2011 , as well as the winner of the Champions Challenge I. Two teams selected by the decision of the FIH Executive Committee were added to them . Board ). If any of the teams-finishers of the previous draw refuse to participate, its place will be taken by the next according to the result of the participants of the previous Champions Trophy; accordingly - for teams selected by the decision of the Executive Committee of the FIG.
