(5638) Daycoon

(5638) Deikoon ( Latin Deikoon ) - a typical Trojan asteroid of Jupiter , moving at the Lagrange point L 5 , 60 ° behind the planet. The asteroid was discovered on September 10, 1988 by the American astronomers Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory and named after one of the heroes of the Trojan War [2] .

Photometric observations conducted in 1994 made it possible to obtain the light curves of this body, from which it followed that the period of rotation of the asteroid around its axis is 9.137 ± 0.003 hours, with the brightness changing as it rotates by more than 0.07 ± 0.01 m [ 1] .
