Elian ( lat.Aelianus ) - East Roman politician of the last quarter of the V century .

In 480, Elian served as prefect of the Praetorium of the East . It is known. that several laws were sent to him at this post, which later became part of the Justinian Code . In 484, Elian supported the rebels against the power of the emperor Zeno Ill and Leonty , proclaimed emperor. Leonty appointed him as his prefect of the praetorium of the East. Elian's fate is unknown. Perhaps he was buried in the Cilician city of Adana , although this may be the burial of his namesake.
