Ai Kago ( 加 護 亜 依 Kago Ai , born February 7, 1988) is a Japanese singer, actress, and a former member of the girl idol Morning Musume [1] .

She became a member of Morning Musume in March 2000 according to the results of the fourth set in the group (the so-called “listening to the fourth generation”) [2] . At that time she was only 12 years old [3] .
In addition to Morning Musume, in the same project she was in the Mini Moni group, which consisted of girls up to 150 centimeters tall.
After her "solemn release" in 2004 from Morning Musume continued her musical career as a half of the W duo (along with Nozomi Tsuji ).
In early 2006, shortly before the scheduled release of the duo's third album, photographs of Kago smoking in a restaurant were published in the Japanese magazine Friday [4] . After that Hello! Project removed her from work, she was at home (under house arrest). (Moreover, when she was still on a trial period, she was caught smoking a second time) [5] . At the end of January 2007, about a year after the scandal with photos in Friday magazine, she returned to Tokyo [6] , and her comeback was planned by “Hello Project”. But at the end of March, a new scandal erupted: a report was published where she was caught off on a weekend at hot springs ( onsen ) with a man 18 years older, she also smoked again [5] . After that Hello! Project broke the contract with her [6] .
After a while, she returned to show business, this time solo. In March 2010 she released a jazz album Ai Kago Meets Jazz ~ The First Door ~ , in which she changed her style, showing an adult singing voice. In June 2012 she gave birth to a girl [1] . In 2015, divorced her first husband, a year later she remarried. In February 2016 she gave birth to a son.
