Michael Eklund ( born Michael Eklund ; born July 31, 1972 , Saskatoon , Saskatchewan , Canada ) is an American and Canadian actor of Swedish-Norwegian descent. He became the most famous after the main negative role in the film " Anxious Call " [2] .

Early life
Born July 31, 1972 in Saskatoon , Canada [3] . Michael's parents are Belinda and Jerry Eklund. In childhood, he was engaged in beekeeping and caring for alpacas at the parent's farm. At school he participated in theatrical productions, but planned to become an artist. To achieve this, Michael entered the College of Art in Alberta , where he met his future wife, writer Megan Bennett. It was thanks to this meeting that Eklund dropped out of college and went to Vancouver to become an actor.
Career
He made his film debut in 2000 and subsequently met with director Uwe Boll , who filmed the adaptation of computer games. Michael Eklund appears in almost every Ball film [4] . In 2006, he starred in the role of the corrupt cop Rene Desjardins in the Canadian television series Intelligence , and also appeared in the role of Marcus in the series I Choose Alice . At the same time, Eklund began to appear frequently in American films.
In 2006, he auditioned for the lead role of Mike Selucci in the vampire series Blood Ties . In the end, he got the role of the Demon Summoner Norman Bridwell, which he played over several episodes.
In 2007, Michael received one of the main roles in the film "Latex" [5] .
In 2011, he starred in the fantastic thriller “ Separator ” [6] , in 2012 he played the main role in the film “ Human Body Errors ” [7] , for which he received several awards [8] . In 2013, he played a major negative role in "The Call of Challenge ", where his character confronted the heroines of actresses Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin and information also appeared that he would star in the lead role in the movie " Edward " [9] . For this role, he received the Leo Award. In the same year, he played a small role in the slasher “ I Don't See Evil 2 ” [10] .
Also in 2014, Michael played the role of Zane Morgan in the second season of the Bates Motel series [11] , and then received one of the main roles in The Cold Descent Western [12] . Later, the name of the project was changed to West of Hell, and the premiere date is set for 2017.
From 2016 to 2017, he played secondary roles in the television series Winona Erp and Detective Agency Dirk Gently .
Personal life
On June 28, 2003, Michael Eklund married actress and writer Megan Bennett. In 2011, they divorced.
