Biography
The son of a teacher, by education and profession - a doctor - a radiologist . In the early 1920s collaborated in the journal “ Book and Revolution ”, reviewed the novelties of modern literature, published an article there “On the Poetic Hearing of Pushkin ” (1921. No. 8/9). He took part in the activities of the Pushkin Society, since 1937 he was its scientific secretary.
In 1925-1929 he was a member of the Leningrad literary group "Commonwealth" (N. Barshev, M. Borisoglebsky, N. Brown , M. Komissarova, B. Lavrenyov , P. Medvedev , M. Kozakov , Vs. Rozhdestvensky , A. Sventitsky, A. Chapygin , D. Chetverikov and others).
Since 1931 - a member of the Literary Association of the Red Army and Navy .
Creativity
He began to print as a poet in 1915 in the New Journal for All. He placed his poems in the collection The Circle (Prince II, 1923), The Bucket (Prince IV, 1926), The Commonwealth (L., 1927), in the journal Zvezda, Volley, and others.
The author of poetry collections “Burning Candle” (Petrograd, 1917), “Grove” (Petrograd, 1922).
Compiled by Modern Russian Criticism (Leningrad, 1925). Author of a number of articles on Pushkin’s themes: “On the Bronze Horseman” (Literary Leningrad. 1936. No. 59); “Mayakovsky and Pushkin” ( Pushkin. Temporary of the Pushkin Commission . 3. M .; L., 1937) and others, as well as the brochure “Life of A. S. Pushkin. Speech at a meeting in the Museum “Pushkin’s Last Apartment” on February 10, 1937 ”(afterword by Fedin , 1937). In addition to the article “The Artist and the Topic”, which is the text of his speech in the editorial office of “Literary Contemporary”, this issue of the journal (1937. No. 1) also printed his poem “Pushkin Mountains”. Earlier, in the fourth book of the almanac "The Bucket" (M .; L., 1926), Oksenov published the poem "Pushkin in the Crimea."
The author of a number of articles on the life and work of S. Yesenin was his most consistent and courageous defender. S. Yesenin presented one of his books with an inscription: “To cute Oksenov ...” . In the article “On Pornography in Soviet Literature” (1926), Oksenov sharply criticized L. Sosnovsky , the main organizer of the persecution of Yesenin.
As a critic, he led a polemic with representatives of Marxist criticism, who, in his opinion, “impede the harmonious organic development of literature, ” demanding from the writer orthodoxy, ideological consistency. In his critical works on the work of L. Reisner , K. Fedin, gave impressionistic characteristics of the creative manner of writers.
Speaking German and French, he acted as a translator, compiler and author of the preface to the works of Roger Martin du Gard , Luigi Pirandello ; translated from interlinear, which in the 1930s was almost inevitable.
