About the album
The album was recorded in various styles, it includes pop , punk , reggae , funk and lullaby . Three singles from the album were released in the UK (" Dreaming ", " Union City Blue " and " Atomic "). “ The Hardest Part ” was released as the second single in the US instead of “Union City Blue”. According to a 1994 note to The Platinum Collection , the song Slow Motion was originally planned as the fourth single from the album, Mike Chapman even remixed the track. After the unexpected success of Call Me (song for the film American Gigolo ), these plans were put on hold and the single mix Slow Motion remained unreleased. However, an alternative mix for this track called “The Stripped Down Motown Mix” was released by Chrysalis / EMI in the mid -1990s .
Blondie also released a video album that contained music videos for each of the 12 songs on the record. It was the first such project in pop and rock music [4] . Most of the music videos were filmed in New York and the surrounding area, except for Union City Blue, which was filmed at Wihoken's docks. The director of all the filming was David Mallet, produced by Paul Flatteri. The video was originally distributed as a VHS promoter, and was later officially released on videotapes and video discs in October 1980 [5] .
Eat to the Beat was reissued by EMI in 1994 and EMI-Capitol in 2001 with four bonus tracks. Remastering of 2001 was reissued again in 2007 ( June 26 in the USA and July 2 in the UK), but without four bonus tracks. At the same time, a video album on DVD was reissued.
