Carlsen, Sven

Sven Odegor Carlsen (born October 6, 1967 in Hocknsun) is a former Norwegian strongman, powerlifter and professional bodybuilder. Powerlifting and bodybuilding

Sven began as a powerlifter in 1986, winning a number of titles and setting 30 Norwegian, 3 European and 1 world record. Shortly afterwards, Sven began his professional bodybuilding career. He traveled to the track with his bodybuilding friends and posed to pay bills for the money. Sven won the title of Mr Norway and finished second at the World Games . This victory brought him the title of professional bodybuilder, and now he could participate in competitions of the appropriate level. Sven moved to California to focus on his bodybuilding career, and his first professional show was the Night of Champions. Sven suffered a severe rupture of the muscle that forced him to leave bodybuilding, and in 1996 he immediately switched to strongman competitions.

Career Strongman

Sven participated in one of the qualifying rounds of World's Strongest Man 1996 and almost got to the final part. In the 1997 tournament, Sven reached his first of 7 consecutive finals since 1997 - in 1999–2004 (did not participate in 1998). In the final of 1998, Sven was leading on points, but during the warm-up before his squat, he tore up his hamstring and was forced to refuse further participation in the tournament. Sven returned in 1999, finishing in third place, finishing second in 2000, and a year later he finally won the World's Strongest Man at Victoria , Zambia Falls .

Other prestigious achievements of Sven include the title of the strongest man of Europe 2001, 3 silver medals at the Arnold Strongman Classic (2002-2004), a victory in the World Muscle Power Championships 2001, and 3 titles of the strongest man in Norway (2003, 2005 and 2006). Sven was the second athlete entered in the poll of fans in the World's Strongest Man Hall of Fame in 2010. Sven is a very charismatic person; he is known for shouting out the phrase "Viking Power." Among his best results in the early years was a squat with 400 kg, bench press 270 kg and 412.5 kg in the burden. In a 1997 interview, he claimed that his most significant achievement was a 400 kg thrust 3 times [2] .

Sven is the organizer of the tournament “Norway's Strongest Man”, presents exercises and comments. Sven was one of the commentators on the final exercise of the Arnold Strongman Classic 2010. Sven also hosted the Viking Power Challenge tournament in Norway, which was part of the Super Series, and then the Giants Live tour, qualifying for World's Strongest Man .
