Arcadia on the plan of the diocese Egypt
Arcadia or Arcadia Egyptian ( Latin: Arcadia or Arcadia Aegypti ) is a Roman province located in the northern part of Egypt .
It was created between 386 and 395 from the province of Augustamnik and named after the ruling emperor Arcadius . The province included a predominantly historical region, known as Heptanomida ("seven Nomes"), with the exception of Hermopolis , which belonged to Thebaid [1] . In Notitia Dignitatum, Arcadia is one of the six provinces of the diocese of Egypt , which was governed by a viceroy [1] [2] .
