Biography
Valley's voice range is three and a half octaves. He can switch to falsetto from his “natural” baritone without the usual gap for falsetto singers. When, on the advice of producer Bob Crew, to use this ability of the singer, The Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio wrote the song “Sherry” , great success came to the group - at the end of the summer of 1962 Sherry topped the American national chart . Around this time [2] (according to other sources, in 1964), Gaudio and Valli shook hands with an informal agreement to always divide their income between themselves in half. Since then, they have worked together on many projects and for many decades now, regardless of which one of them earns, this agreement is being observed [3] .
In the mid-1960s, while still a member of the group, Wally began a solo career. He achieved triumph with the song “ Can't Take My Eyes Off You, ” which, according to the results of 1967, was nominated for a Grammy , and the single from it was certified gold for sales in more than a million copies. She remained the only solo gold success of the singer until 1976, when "My Eyes Adored You" led the "hot hundred" of "Billboard" . And in 1978, the singer recorded the title song written by Barry Gibb in for the film-musical " Grease ". The single with her became platinum [2] .
In 1967, the singer was diagnosed with atherosclerosis . Doctors told him that sooner or later he would go deaf. At some point, he began to hear so badly that he could barely hear music at concerts. His career could have come to an end, but in the late 1970s, almost by a miracle, with a series of operations his hearing was restored [2] .
To date, Frank Valley continues to record CDs and perform concerts [2] .
