Coenobita (lat.) Is a genus of decapod crayfish from the superfamily of hermit crabs (Paguroidea). Adult individuals lead a land life. Like other hermit crabs, they carry shells of gastropod mollusks containing water, allowing them to live on land [1] . Most Coenobita species inhabit the Indo-Pacific region, only one species in West Africa, another found along the west coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and one species on the Pacific coast of South America [2] .
