Christianity in Moldova is the largest religion in the country.
According to the in 2010, 3.48 million Christians lived in Moldova, which made up 97.5% of the country's population [1] [2] . The Encyclopedia of “Religions of the World” by J. G. Melton estimates the share of Christians in 2010 at 96.3% (3.56 million believers) [3] .
The largest direction of Christianity in the country is Orthodoxy . In 2000, 1844 Christian churches and places of worship, belonging to 25 different Christian denominations, functioned in Moldova [4] .
In addition to Moldovans , Christians are also the majority of Ukrainians , Russians , Gagauz , Bulgarians , Romanians , Belarusians , Germans , Poles , Armenians , Gypsies and others living in the country.
