Christianity in Iceland is the most common religion in the country.
According to the in 2010, 300 thousand Christians lived in Iceland, which made up 95% of the population of this country [1] [2] . The encyclopedia of “Religions of the World” by J. G. Melton estimates the share of Christians in 2010 at 95.6% (295 thousand believers) [3] .
The largest direction of Christianity in the country is Protestantism . In 2000, there were 333 Christian churches in Iceland that belonged to 21 different Christian denominations [4] .
In addition to Icelanders , the majority of Poles , Swedes , Americans , Germans , Norwegians and British living in the country are also Christians.
As of 2015, only one Icelandic church - the Church of Iceland is a member of the World Council of Churches [5] .
